The region is home to large Magellanic penguin colonies. The Los Pingüinos Natural Monument, on Magdalena Island, gathers over a hundred thousand pairs in season; at Otway Sound and the King Penguin Park (Tierra del Fuego) you can also watch them up close, always keeping to the trails.
